Legato Ohta

OUR CONCEPT

Nearly 19,000 foreign residents and immigrants work and live in Ota Ward. The number is expected to increase in the future. The number of places where people of different ethnicities, cultures, languages, and histories can meet will continue to increase.

We do not see differences in origin, culture, language, and gender as barriers or obstacles, but rather as new possibilities for building local communities.
With this in mind, we will carry out a number of activities aimed at creating equal and interactive relationships in the community, including the dissemination and collection of information in multiple languages and the promotion of networking.

At the same time, we will promote advocacy through public relations and other activities to protect and expand the rights of foreign residents and immigrants in order to create a discrimination-free community.

We seek the participation of people who are creative, motivated, and have a sense of human rights.

(Legato is an Italian musical term meaning to play smoothly in succession, and is derived from the word legale, to tie together. The name is used with the aim of establishing a smooth relationship with the community.)

About Us

Legato Ohta was established in March 2010 as a general incorporated association. Members of several international exchange groups active in Ota Ward, Tokyo, were involved in the establishment of the organization.
Together with foreign residents living in the community, we are engaged in various activities to create a community where everyone can live in peace, without discrimination and on equal footing.
