Career Guidance for Parents and Children Whose Native Language Is Not Japanese
To help students with foreign roots feel confident in choosing a path to high school.
Japan's high school entrance exam system is complex and can pose a significant barrier for students of foreign descent whose native language is not Japanese, as well as their parents.
Legato Ota, in collaboration with OCNet (Ota Citizens’ Network for Living with Foreign Residents) and the NPO IWC International Citizens’ Association, has established the “Southern Tokyo Career Guidance Executive Committee” and hosts the “Southern Tokyo Multilingual High School Admission Guidance” event every July and October.
This guide provides easy-to-understand information in multiple languages for middle school students with foreign roots and their parents on topics such as the entrance exam system, school life, educational expenses, and residency status.
With the cooperation of volunteers and school teachers, we also provide counseling on education, daily life, and residency status.
